Ianto watches Jack lean over Gwen's desk, murmuring something quietly in her ear, and whatever it is brings a slow smile to her face. Ianto looks down at the tray he holds, the striped blue mug steaming with black coffee and a dash of cream, and then lifts his gaze to see Adam and Eve together, both beautiful, perfect, the ideal.
And then he turns away, not wanting to intrude, no matter how much it hurts. Jack won't choose him when it comes down to it. He's not the other half. He's the intruder, the weary, the wise, the wicked.
He's the serpent. And once Jack has grown tired of the offering of red delicious, he will leave. He and his Eve will go, never to return, leaving him alone in the paradise created for him.
